Thanks to the support of the Bayat Foundation, the Children’s ICU-CCU at Indira Gandhi Hospital is now complete and ready to treat children. Updated monitoring systems will help doctors and nurses to keep a close eye on children as they recover, so they can respond immediately if there are any signs of complications. The ward also contains medical technology new to Afghanistan, such as round Oxygen and Medical Vacuum (Suction) systems, which will help children receive improved care while recovering. The new unit contains two wards: the ICU and the Children’s Cardiac Unit. Located in Kabul, Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital is Afghanistan’s leading medical facility for children. The ward also has special sections for doctors and nurses, storage facilities to keep sterile equipment separate, and modern restrooms.
