BAYAT FOUNDATION’S RAMADAN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES 285,000 MEALS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND HOPE TO AFGHAN CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

 

Kabul, Afghanistan—June 6, 2018—The Bayat Foundation announced the successful completion of the first phase of its annual Ramadan Assistance Program, with the distribution of 285,120 nutritious meals and school supplies to children and their families living in Kabul and the surrounding region.

Working in partnership with seven regional high schools, to ensure that the meals and school supplies reached the largest number of children and their families, the Bayat Foundation launched its Ramadan Assistance program on May 26, 2018 at The Dehdana Girls School, located in Kabul City’s 7th District. There, Bayat Foundation Chairman Dr. Ehsanollah Bayat, led a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Foundation staff, Dehdana educators and volunteers, who distributed 38,880 meals to young children and their families.

Later that day, working from the Omulbanin High School in Kabul’s 3rd District, The Bayat Foundation team, together with staff from the Omulbanin High School and volunteers, distributed 43,200 meals to students and families.

The Bayat Foundation continued its intensive and wide-ranging Ramadan Aid distribution program with five additional partner schools: Rabia Balkhi High School (3rd District), Wahdot High School (5th District), Sowad Hayati High School (5th District), Amina-e-Fadawi High School (8th District), and Sultan Razia High School (7th District). Together, The Bayat Foundation and its partner high schools were able to distribute 285,120 meals to Afghan children and their families.

In addition to providing children and their families with many days’ worth of highly nutritious meals, The Bayat Foundation provided each school and its students with athletic equipment, shoes and other essential items.
