Families In Need

The Challenge – Decades of conflict and unrest have forced many Afghans into lives of poverty with few or no places to turn for help to feed their families, obtain medicine, find support during times of scarcity, or send their children to school. Worsening the situation, many families also have a child, parent, or relative who has become handicapped due to the dangerous conditions still prevalent in this war-torn country.

The Bayat Foundation Responds – In response to these challenges, the Bayat Foundation – with the support of its generous U.S. donors, Bayat Family funds, and its partner NGOs in Afghanistan – has established a number of initiatives to support families in need.  In winter 2008-09, the Foundation initiated a program to provided Winter Aid packages consisting of items such as flour, oil, blankets, and clothing to needy families in Kabul, Faryab, Sar-e-pul, Balkh, Badakshan, Kundoz, Baglan, Ghazni, Khost, Nangarhar, Badghis, Zabul, Paktia, Heraat, Farah, Kapisa and Spin Boldak.
